Opening of photo exhibition “For saving of the water meadows of the Desna River – lets create National Park “Podesinnja”

On the 11 of June, 2009 at 11 AM in the lobby of Kiev regional governmental administration (Lesi Ukrajinki Square,1) a conference devoted to the opening of photo exhibition “For saving of the water meadows of the Desna River – lets create National Park “Podesinnja”” will take place.

The Desna River is one of the biggest rivers of Ukraine; it is the only one plain river of Europe, which was not particularly regulated, so it has no dams, reservoirs, channels. Due to that fact it still has meandering riverbed and water meadows in natural state.

Moreover, protected meadows provide natural self-cleaning of the water and the Desna River is one of the best water providers of billion of people. Such big cities as Kiev and Chernigiv consume the water.

Moreover, the Desna River is recognized as “Mecca” of the water tourism and constantly used as a place of many touristic trips.

The Desna is also very important in the preservation of the biodiversity. There is a Desna-migration track of birds in a system of migrant fauna ways of Europe.

Taking into consideration all these facts, the opening of such kind of exhibition is an important step in friendly uniting of governmental organs, public and touristic organizations, middle and low business specimen in order to save meadows of Desna river and control of its development in touristic and environmental sense by creating of National Park “Podesinnja”

Along with this exhibition we can also observe art works of Ukrainian artist Olena Rublova. All of artworks represent landscapes of the river meadows.
