Переяславські «Змійові вали» – це земляні насипи. Що утворюють двовалову захисну систему дуг та прямолінійних відрізків загальною протяжністю понад
60 км. Яка охоплює територію площею близько 425 кв.км.
Для оборони від кочовиків силами князівської адміністрації була створена міцна система оборони Переяславського князівства, до якої входили міста-городища та високі земляні (“змійові”) вали. До безпосередньої лінії захисту Переяслава від кочових племен входили городища в селах Циблі, Гайшин, Городище, Вінинці, Пристроми, Ташань та переяславські “змійові” вали. За легендою “змійові” вали створив Змій – чудовисько великих розмірів, яке поїдало місцеве населення. Розправилися з ним два сміливці – ковалі Кузьма та Дем’ян, що не лише приборкали його, але й запрягли в плуг і проорали межу, за яку він не смів переходити. Грунт, вивернутий із борозни рову утворив довгий насип – вал. Втомлений від важкої праці та спраги, змій дотягнув плуг Бойова сокира до річки, перепив води і загинув. Так та вістря стріл. населення Середнього Подніпров’я звільнилося від ненависного ворога. ХІ-ХІІІ ст.
Здебільшого «Змійові вали» під нестримним тиском часу та господарської діяльності людини давно втратили свою велич і зазнали нищівних руйнувань.
«Змійові вали» Переяславщини є унікальними археологічними пам’ятками, одними із самих давніх в регіоні фортифікаційних споруд, цікавими і перспективними в історико-культурному та природному відношенні з цінними та рідкісними біоценозами.
